WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The state-of-the industry reports, biotech patent cases and advancements in biofuel technologies headline the second day of the 2011 BIO International Convention, the world’s largest biotechnology event taking place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Hosted by the Biotechnology Industry Organization, the event is expected to attract more than 15,000 attendees from 48 states and 65 countries.

Highlights from Today’s Program Include:

Biotech Patenting: The Myriad Case and the Patentability of Isolated DNA Molecules
This session will discuss high-profile patent cases affecting the sector; highlight recent developments in the Myriad case; and inform on the importance of continued involvement with the issues raised, whether at the Supreme Court stage or in an effort to obtain legislative remedies. Navigating New Trends in the Industry: How Pharma and Biotech Collaborations Are Shaping the Future of Drug Development
This session will showcase how pharma and biotech partnerships can increase drug development diversification; offer insights from industry experts on the strategic value of pharma and biotech collaborations; and discover advancements in novel therapies and industry partnerships. Super Session: Ernst & Young’s 25^th Annual Biotechnology Industry Report
