Oct. 5, 2010 20:27 UTC Renova Energy Ethanol Plant Auction Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m.HEYBURN, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Maas Companies of Rochester, Minn. will auction Renova Energy LLC, Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 at 10 a.m. onsite at 951 J Street Heyburn, Idaho and via the Internet. The plant includes a $60 million, 20 million gallon-per-year partially-constructed ethanol plant, anaerobic digester biogas system and 3.2 megawatt power facility begun and halted in 2007. Chapter 11 was filed in 2009 when additional financing could not be obtained due to economic conditions.
The plant’s three main components are in different stages of completion with a majority of the groundwork and engineering finished and most equipment purchased and onsite. A unique attribute is the utilization of #2 corn for dry mill ethanol production with ethanol plant liquid byproduct (thin stillage) and cheese whey, delivered from an adjacent production facility, to the anaerobic digester as feedstock to create methane. “Green energy” is produced from operating two 1.6 megawatt turbine generators that use the methane biogas created by the anaerobic digester. Flexibility in design allows this electricity to be diverted either to the ethanol plant or to be sold to a main electrical distribution network. The process does not need an evaporation system or wetcake (WDGS) dryer equipment, as required in typical ethanol production operations, because the thin stillage is consumed by anaerobic digester operations. The wetcake materials also are highly marketable to the local dairy and hog industry. The entire plant can be purchased prior to auction, including real estate where applicable and equipment, or buyers may purchase the equipment and real estate for the dry mill ethanol plant or anaerobic digester biogas system/power facility. Potential buyers should explore these options quickly and submit bids prior to Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 5 p.m. Central Time after which the plant will be sold piecemeal at auction. Potential buyers are encouraged to attend the following open houses:
