As the previous Havyard 832 CDs Havila Herøy is entering directly into a long-term charter. Maersk Olie og Gas Danmark has hired the vessel for a 5 years fixed contract with 1 + 1 + 1 years options. In these challenging times, with very many vessels competing in a depressed spot market it is very positive for the owner to have secured long-term employment for this newbuild. This contract is a breakthrough as it is the first time Maersk Olie og Gas Danmark has signed a vessel fixed for more than one year. This shows that Maersk has confidence in Havila Shipping as owner and operator and in Havyard as designer and shipbuilder.

After the naming ceremony Havila Herøy will sail directly to Esbjerg which will be her base for the supply services she will be providing offshore oil installations in the Danish sector of the North Sea for the next five years.

This is the fifth advanced offshore support vessels delivered from Havyard Leirvik this year. The shipyard has four vessels under construction, whereof the largest Diving Support Vessel in the world, and the last vessel will be delivered early 2011.

Havila Herøy is designed by Havyard Design AS in Fosnavåg, Norway. Havyard 832 CD is a medium to large size Platform Supply Vessel which fulfils the new requirements from the market. The design has more cargo capacity than existing designs, energy optimized diesel electric propulsion system and fulfils DnV Clean Design. The design of Havila Herøy is customised the requirements the requirements from Maersk Olie og Gas Danmark.

This is the fourth Havyard 832 CD delivered and there is another five vessels under construction at different Norwegian shipyards.

In addition to the Havyard 832, Havyard Design AS has developed several types of AHTS, PSV, subsea maintenance vessels, diving vessels and construction vessels. Several vessels of different types of Havyard design^TM is under construction at shipyards in Norway, India, China and Singapore.
