Paradigm Announces New Seismic Imaging Solutions Print E-mail

Paradigm, a leading provider of enterprise software solutions to the global oil and natural gas exploration and production industry, announced development and commercialization plans for two new seismic imaging products designed to improve the quality and reliability of subsurface images generated with the seismic method.

These seismic images are routinely used in the oil and gas industry in the search for hydrocarbon reservoirs and for improved field development of known hydrocarbon reservoirs.

The seismic imaging products belong to two general classes of subsurface imaging solutions (ray- based and full wave) that are adaptable to different exploration and development objectives. The ray-based "Common Reflection Angle Migration (CRAM)" generates accurate angle-dependent reflectivity gathers in depth, ideally suited for exploration areas that can benefit from seismic characterization (e.g. AVA) analysis. A new version of the Common Reflection Migration is available for licensing today.

The full wave RTM is ideally suited for application to subsurface areas requiring seismic images subject to the most complex geologic and velocity conditions. Both migrations can be applied to meet seismic imaging objectives when the velocity field must be described by anisotropic (VTI, TTI) velocity models. The Reverse Time Migration developed in collaboration with Acceleware® Corp.

(TSX-V: AXE), a leading developer of high performance computing applications, will be made available to Paradigm customers later this summer.

"We are excited to be working with Paradigm to deliver a Reverse Time Migration solution to their customers," said Ryan Schneider, chief technical officer of Acceleware. "We are confident that customers will welcome the added value delivered by Acceleware and we will continue to enhance the capabilities of our libraries to process larger datasets, deliver faster turnaround cycles, and produce higher resolution images."

"These two migrations represent Paradigm's commitment to provide the oil and gas industry with seismic imaging solutions that are adaptable to different styles of exploration and field development conditions," said Duane Dopkin, senior vice president of technology of Paradigm. "We believe the collective and simultaneous use of these two products on many exploration plays will increase oil companies' return on investment for their seismic programs."
