The offshore construction and well intervention vessel Sarah, an ULSTEIN SX121, will be used regarding new contracts for the shipowner Marine Subsea.

Marine Subsea UK, the owner of the vessel Sarah and a provider of subsea well intervention, decommissioning and construction support solutions to the global subsea oil and gas industry, has won a series of contracts worth more than £2m to proceed with a multi-client well abandonment program for the operators in the North Sea.
The contracts are with a number of oil and gas operators including DNO, Bayerngas UK and Tullow. Work is scheduled to start in July with mobilisation in Aberdeen.

In order to spread the mobilisation and transit costs related to the decommissioning activity, Marine Subsea UK will use its light well intervention vessel Sarah, an Ulstein SX121 DP3 vessel capable of operating in depths of 3000mt, to plug and abandon a single Category 2.2 and four Category 1 suspended subsea wells, spread across the North Sea.

Marine Subsea UK will be responsible in leading the project to perforate, cement and carry out abrasive severing and recovery of the wells. The company will also be responsible for the recovery and disposal of residual oil-based muds.

Alasdair Cowie, managing director of Marine Subsea UK, said: "We bring significant cost savings using this multi-client approach, helping to cut the expense of subsea decommissioning. We are delighted to be awarded these high profile North Sea contracts, which recognise our track record and safety standards.
"We are well positioned to support operators in the North Sea and globally, to carry out decommissioning to the highest standards."
