42nd Annual Long Beach Yacht and Boat Show Set For September 9-12Special Appearances by Zac Sunderland and Jessica Watson LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Long Beach Yacht and Boat Show tradition continues forty-two consecutive years of boat shows produced in Long Beach by the Southern California Marine Association and presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California. The Long Beach Yacht and Boat Show at Shoreline Village Marina is one of the West Coast's largest in-water and outdoor boat shows, and draws boat lovers from some of Southern California’s most affluent demographics, including Beverly Hills, Palos Verdes, Marina del Rey, Newport Beach, Pacific Palisades and Long Beach. SPECIAL APPEARANCES: Zac Sunderland Set to Appear at Long Beach Yacht and Boat Show, Sept. 9-12, Shoreline Village Marina Zac Sunderland is a true American adventurer. At the age of 17, he became the youngest person to successfully sail solo around the world. Sunderland departed Marina del Rey harbor on June 14, 2008, in a 36-foot Islander sailboat, "The Intrepid," that he had purchased with his own money for only $6,000. On July 16, 2009, thirteen months and two days later, Sunderland returned to his home port in Los Angeles. Sunderland's record setting journey took him to such far away and exotic places as the Marshall Islands, Darwin, Australia, Papua, New Guinea, Cocos Islands, Capetown, South Africa, Grenada and the Panama Canal. Sunderland and his sailboat will be making a four-day appearance. Meet this young American adventurer at the boat show and learn more about his remarkable exploits. Jessica Watson -- Youngest Person to Sail Solo and Unassisted Around the World Jessica Watson from Australia is a truly remarkable young lady and accomplished sailor. On October 18, 2009, she departed Sydney in a 33'6" Sparkman & Stephen S&S 34 with a course charted to cover over 23,000 nautical miles of ocean during the following eight months as she solo circumnavigated the globe. Her successful journey took her eastbound, over the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans and back to Sydney on May 15, 2010, just three days before her 17th birthday. Jessica will be greeting fans at the 2010 Long Beach Yacht and Boat Show on Saturday and Sunday, September 11-12. Her new book chronicling her story, "True Spirit," will also be available for purchase and personal signing at the boat show.
